Winter Sports

Hi guys,

We will be sharing with you about our winter sports.

It's our first day of Winter Sports and we are very excited about our sports uniforms and playing against other schools.

There is at least one person in our class playing for each of the different sports offered. This means that some people are playing basketball, some are playing rugby, some are playing hockey, some are playing football and some are playing netball.

Miss D is looking after the netball teams so unfortunately she will only have photos of them.

Some of us are nervous  because we haven't played our sports before but we are still going to try our personal best. Maybe we will see some of you today!

Here is our netball teams playing.

Cyber Safety

Kia ora blogger’s! It's Tom and Quaid here,

Welcome to, or welcome back to the Room 6 blog. This week we have been learning about cyber smart.

Room 6 all had to do a video for our parents to explain what to share on the web and what not to share
on the web. The reason we made these videos is because our parents don’t got to work to learn about
cyber smart they go to work to work for their company so they don't know about what to share online.

A helpful way to think about this is if you want to share something online but you wouldn't walk up to a
stranger and tell them then don't hare it online.

The kids have been talking about how to be safe online. We have made two videos that we would like to

share with you, here our are videos. Please do not hesitate to comment on this blog post have a nice rest
of the day and weekend BYE and keep safe on the web.

Kind regards,
Tom and Quaid

Buddies Again!

Talofa friends!

This Friday we visited our buddy class along with Ruma Toru! They have been making volcanoes for their 'Sandpit' term. You can find our what sandpit term is in our earlier post!

Today, we had to work with our buddies to help them write a sentence about the cool experiment they did and the volcano they made in the sandpit.

Miss D is very proud of all of use for setting goals and giving positive feedback to our little buddies.

Thank you for reading our blog post!

All about Earth Science

Hi again to our lovely parents, caregivers, grandparents, friends and our buddy class!

The term has been picking up quickly with our 'Sandpit' Topic starting!

In term 2 this year we are having 'Sandpit' term. This means that the teachers and the classes can choose a topic that they love and are passionate about. It's like playing, building and creating in the sandpit.

For our 'Sandpit' Topic our class has chosen to do Earth Science - Rocks and Minerals. We had our first introductory lesson on Monday. We learnt about the three types of rocks: igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic.

Miss D has brought in a bunch of rocks and stones for us to look at.

This week we are learning more about sedimentary rocks and what can be trapped in between. Sedimentary rocks are soft and layered. One layer can be very deep. Layers can be made up of the same sediment or minerals, or they can be mixed.

We are making our own sedimentary rocks by mixing sand and plaster together and forming different coloured layers with dye.

We will show you them when we have finished!

Have a great weekend and please comment if you have any knowledge you would like to share with us about rocks and minerals!

Harold's Thinker Styles

Hi Everyone!

We have been working on some of the ideas that we learnt during our recent classes with Harold.
Our class has been putting their ideas and learnings together on a google drawing and would like to share some with you.

You will be able to see some of them in the following posts from some of the students in our class.

Here are some photos of our second session with Harold.
