MOVING ON TO TERM 3 !!!!!

Hi Readers,

Welcome back to the Ako Ngatahi room 6 blog again. Today I am going to give you a review of what Term 2 has been like. This Term we have been in a lot of things for example Shared Lunch, Biathlon, Cross Country and Winter Sports.


 I had also had an opportunity to go and represent the school in the zones basketball team. The juniors in our school got to go to Orana Wildlife Park for a visit.


In our class room we have been learning about earth science. This have been really fun because we have to do experiments that have been really fun like making borax crystals and sugar crystals. We are still making our sugar crystals because they need a while to make.


Term 2 has been really fun with sport and we have had a lot of fun in room six. From my point of view I think Term 3 is going to be even better. I am looking forward to moving on into Term 3 and I pretty sure that the rest of my class is too.

Yummy Sugar Crystal

Today is the last day of term two and we made some Edible Sugar Crystals. We made them on the of 4th of July. Today is the last day so we might have to take our crystals home. My one didn't grew today so I have to take it home and wait. I will task Miss D the ingredients so I can make more at home. I hope my one grow so I could eat it.

My Writing

Hi guys welcome back to my blog.

Today I have got writing blog post about what I have been doing at writing time. I have been learning about describing instead of telling. So if you are telling you are saying "I" but if you are describing you are saying "The".

1.The lightning struck the water with such force to fling it up 4 metres in the air

2.The thunder made the world shake

3.The dark and moody sky looked like we were in a galaxy because of the light from the cracks of lightning

Mars Reading Project!!!

Hello everyone,

Welcome back to room 6 ako ngatahi blog, today in this blog post I will show you our project that me and my partner did at school in reading. 

At reading we are learning to...

• ask question before, during, and after. 
• I synthesise new information from the text. This means my ideas stronger and more solid. 
• Find and explain cause and effect relationship.

So me and my partner created an I movie to show are arguments and opinion if we should move to mars or should not. My opinion was we shouldn't move to mars because people would fall of the surface and float out to space. 

And my favourite part of our video was the bloopers, make sure to leave a comment and tell me your favourite part of our video.

Our Chocolate Rocks!

It's Celine here! Welcome back to Ako Ngatahi's blog and today I am going to tell you about our topic learning for Term 2!

In our topic, we have been learning about Earth Science! We also have done another experiment of how Metamorphic Form! We did a experiment with chocolates. We melt the chocolate and marshmallow in the microwave and then we leave it for a day then when it was done we could eat it! 

We noticed that not much people have done these kind of experiment and also I have learnt how metamorphic forms!

Weekly Words!

Weekly words is where we share our learning. Our teacher gave us a word that we don't know then we need to write what we thing that word means.

We are doing this because we are trying to understand what the word means. 

I think some people may heard it. We have heard this word before but I didn't thought to search it on dictionary even I don't know what the word means. Do you guys want to know whats the word of the day is? Well, the word of the day is.......... Fragrance!!!!!!!

Making Crystals!!!

Welcome back to room 6's blog. Today's blog is going to be about........ Making Crystals!!!!!!

We have been making crystals since last week.

We are learning about crystals and we are learning about rocks and how they are formed. This is called Earth Science.

This is how crystals are formed. When a rock is hollow, water goes in it and it takes a really long time to make crystals. Minerals form the rock dissolve in the water and over time, they form crystals. 

Crystals are usually made from a pure mineral.

Last week, on Wednesday, we made  crystals. This is how we made it!

How to make crystals:

  String, pencil, borax, plastic cup, food colouring (if you want to colour it), bucket and hot water.

Get a bucket and pour it with a hot water inside it. Put a borax inside in the bucket and mix it. After you mix it, get a piece of string and make a shape that looks like a circle. And get another string, tie it in the pencil, and the other side of the string, tie it in to the shape that you made.

Put some hot water and borax in to the plastic cup and get your pencil with your shapes that you made, put it across the plastic cup. And leave it for a days or a week.

And that's how you made it!

While we're making it, inside in my mind, I said, I think this is not gonna work because it doesn't look like that it will form. And when we leave it for days, I lifted it up, and I said, it works!!!

I was super happy that it works. The colour of my crystal is blue, I just pick blue because it's a bright colour and a pretty colour. And guess what, 1 person in our classroom use white colour. And I wish I didn't put a colour on mine so that it looks like a real crystal. But I already put colour blue on my crystals.

Shared Lunch!!!

Welcome back to room 6's blog. Today's blog is going to be about Shared Lunch on Wednesday!

On Wednesday, some people bring some foods to share to everyone. Some people bring cupcakes, sandwich, pizza and some fruit! 

It was all very yummy and delicious!!!!!!! My mum went to school and bring some food. 

We lined up in front of our room then we went to the gym. We talk about ou expectation in our school and there were some pictures and songs. Each class went outside to get some food and started to eat. 

Room 6 is the last one who get some food because we need to let the other little children eat first before us.

Our principal and some teachers took some photo's on us. Do you guys wanna see the photo? Well, Here it is!!!!
